If you are a teacher, scout leader, group leader, counselor, homeschooling group, educator, or parent who is responsible for planning field trips for your child’s class, Asbury Woods educators can work with you to plan a visit that meets your goals and needs.
Programs may be scheduled year-round, depending on building availability. Visits may occur during the day or evening and on weekdays or weekends. Scheduled visits may be a half day (2 hours) or full day (4 hours). Whether it is January or June, there are many fun ways to explore the Woods and connect with nature.
Asbury Woods offers school visits specific to each grade level, preK – 12th grade. Educators can explore our grade level offerings on the Teachers page. Most of our school programs may be scheduled throughout the year, but some are available only in specific seasons. The Spring season is a popular time of year to take a class trip to Asbury Woods. Educators who would like to schedule a Spring visit to the Nature Center should contact us in January, as the calendar fills quickly. The Fall and Winter seasons offer exciting field trip options and often have more availability for dates than in the Spring.
Whether you have one class of 10 students, or 100 3rd graders, we can work with you to plan a visit that meets your curricular goals. Homeschooling Groups may select from the School or Group program offerings. Please use the Program Inquiry Form or call Kelley Lang at (814) 835-5356 to schedule a visit.
Group leaders who are interested in scheduling nature explorations led by an Asbury Woods educator will find a variety of seasonal options for their group. Group visits may be scheduled on week days or weekends throughout the year. Both small and large groups are welcome and we are happy to work with visitors with special needs. The Group Programs page describes the types of visits available for youth and adult groups.
To schedule a Group visit, please use our Program Inquiry Form or call Kelley Lang at (814) 835-5356.
A visit to Asbury Woods is a great way for Boy and Girl Scouts to complete their badge requirements. Scout Days are offered throughout the year to help scouts troops to work together on specific badges. Scout Leaders may also arrange visits throughout the year for their troops. Please visit the Scouts page for more information or contact Steve Wasiesky at (814) 835-5356.
