Take a Plant, Leave a Plant!

August 7 - 13
September 4 - 10

Back for summer 2022 is the Carrie T. Watson’s Garden Club Take a Plant, Leave a Plant stand. Visit the porch at Asbury Woods during daytime hours during one of the weeks advertised, to browse the plant stand. The Garden Club plans to stock the stand with a selection of potted herbs, tomato plants, flowers, and bulbs which the public is welcome to take at no cost.  Likewise, if you have plants you wish to share, you can leave a plant for others to enjoy.

The idea is modeled after the popular Little Free Library concept where people can share books.  The Carrie T. Watson Garden Club has a 40-year partnership with Asbury Woods which cares for the garden adjacent to the Nature Center.  Garden Club member Daren McCullough is spearheading this project with the assistance of the Club’s horticulture committee.  She comments, “We hope this will help foster the love of gardening by providing some beautiful start-up plants for people.”  The plants will be displayed in a beautiful case designed and built by Craig McCune, especially for this purpose.  The stand will be displayed on the porch of the Andrew J. Conner Nature Center and people can help themselves to whatever plants catch their eye.  The Garden Club intends to host a Take a Plant, Leave a Plant week during the summer months.  Watch our newsletters and facebook for notices on dates.
