From Hive to Honey celebrates the wonderful honey bee and the vital role it plays in agriculture, pollination, and the food chain. The event offers fun and learning for all ages in an outdoor setting. Kids and adults alike will delight in the honey extractor demonstrations, learning how to harvest honey from a honeycomb and touring Asbury Woods’ beehives. Learn all about the science and social life of the amazing honey bee!
Activities and Demonstrations:
- Interactive Stations:
Placed throughout the Nature Center. See the life cycle of the honeybee, take a short hike to explore the importance of pollinators, witness a honey extraction, taste real honeycomb, visit our beehives, and talk to local bee keepers. - Kids Crafts:
Kids can make their own wax candle and construct a honey bee headband with antenna to wear during the festival. - Lecture:
Taking place at 11:30 a.m. Charlie Vorisek, professional beekeeper, talks about harvesting varieties of honey with a Q & A session afterward - Vendor Stations:
Several vendors will be on-site with all manner of honey products.
