Message from the Board Chair

By Leslie Marsden

This is a very exciting time for Asbury Woods Partnership. We are entering 2015 well positioned to achieve our strategic objectives and fulfill our mission of preserving Asbury Woods and providing all members of the community with meaningful environmental, educational and recreational experiences that inspire a greater sense of environmental awareness, sustainability and stewardship. To lead this effort, I am pleased to introduce Larry Berrin as the Partnership’s new President/ CEO.

Larry brings more than 20 years of experience in the field of environmental education and nature center management, and comes to us from Oregon where he most recently served as the Director of the Tillamook Forest Center. He received his degree in Natural Resources from the University of Maine and went on to attend a graduate-level naturalist program at Antioch University. Positions he has held include Assistant Director of the National Environmental Education Development Collaborative in MA, Vermont State Education Director for the National Audubon Society and Director of Conservation Education for Discover Your Northwest where he led the campaign to develop the first Children’s Forest in the Northwest – The Deschutes Children’s Forest.

We couldn’t be more fortunate to have Larry join our team, and we are equally happy to announce Patrick Lampel as our Development Officer. Pat is an accomplished executive in the not-for-profit sector with extensive management experience including strategic planning and fundraising. Previously, Pat was a Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer with the Hamot Health Foundation and served as the Director of Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier (LEAF).

Please join us in welcoming these two new members to our staff. We strongly believe the depth of experience these two individuals bring to AWP is invaluable as we continue to pursue the initiatives outlined in our strategic plan, further strengthening the Partnership, improving our ability to serve the community and securing the sustainability of Asbury Woods.

Sincerely,

Leslie Marsden
