Each year more than 100,000 people experience Asbury Woods. The long, warm days of summer make it easy to spend time outdoors and in nature. We love being part of your summer memories using our trails, visiting the Nature Center and exploring all we have to offer. This summer, we’re launching several new programs to engage even more members of our community in the magic of Asbury Woods.
We’ll be offering several free summer walking groups, perfect for those who want to learn the trails or those who prefer not to walk alone. Our new Dog Days of Summer walks will be a monthly chance for dog walkers to gather for human and canine companionship and to learn the trails.
Summer 2018 will introduce the Monday Music in the Woods series. The beautiful Otto Behrend Celebration Garden and wooded backdrop provides the perfect outdoor musical experience. Soak in the fresh air, cool breezes and musical notes. Visitors can also enjoy evening Nature Center hours on concert nights, offering more flexible options for experiencing what the Nature Center has to offer.
Plus, we have an innovative partnership with Mercyhurst University lined up to showcase a portion of their fossil collection for a temporary exhibit at Brown’s Farm Barn. Public programs that tie to the exhibit will be offered along with open house hours at Brown’s Farm Barn for public viewing of the fossils. Finally, our Board of Directors is launching an Outreach & Inclusion Committee to solely focus on connecting to new and diverse audiences. As Asbury Woods forges its vision for the coming years, we are committed to ensuring all members of our community know Asbury Woods is a resource to them for meaningful environmental learning and outdoor recreation.
Thank you for being our partner in pursuing our mission and helping to share the joy of Asbury Woods with more people. I look forward to seeing you in the woods very soon.
