Accepting applications for internships

Posted Jul 11, 2017

One way that Asbury Woods acts as a steward is by helping the next generation of educators, researchers, interpreters, and environmental workers who will continue to carry on the work of protecting natural resources.  Building on our existing internship program, during the 2017-18 school year we will be launching a new track that is specifically designed to benefit recent college graduates. The traineeship will invite recent graduates to commit to a yearlong experience here at the Woods where they will be immersed in and contribute to the daily activities of the Education Department. They will participate in a variety of professional development activities and will be mentored by permanent staff. The trainees will work with school groups, assist with outreach visits, and help with festivals, fundraisers, trail work and marketing. Our goal is to give them a holistic experience in the interworking of a dynamic non-profit committed to environmental education.

High quality experiences like these are often essential for recent graduates who have a goal to gain employment in this very competitive job market. Trainees who complete the program at Asbury Woods will find themselves equipped with skills and knowledge that set them apart from other applicants. The recent acquisition of property by Asbury Woods Partnership included the farmhouse near Brown’s Farm Barn. This residence opens an exciting new opportunity to offer interns housing at the farmhouse, and they will also receive a weekly stipend. Living on-site will allow the interns to fully enjoy Asbury Woods in all seasons and to explore all that Erie County and western Pennsylvania has to offer.

Applications for the post-graduate traineeship program will be accepted beginning June 1, 2017 and are accepted until the positions are filled,. Please visit the Internships page to learn more about all the pre-professional programs we offer at Asbury Woods . Questions about this program should be directed to Kelley Lang, Education and Visitor Services Manager.
