Nature Camp or Preschool Camp?

Parents of young campers who are deciding if their child is ready for preschool, nature or art camp, please consider the expectations listed below for each program.  Beyond a child's chronological age, parents are encouraged to consider their child's emotional and physical development, maturity, and ability to follow instructions from adults to determine which camp option is best for their 5 year old.

Preschool Camp

This program is for children ages 4-5 years old who have attended a preschool or preK program during the prior school year.  This is a half-day program, and children should be prepared to attend the program independently, under the supervision of Asbury Woods staff. Parents are not permitted to stay for the duration of the program after dropping off their child.  Children in this program must be able to use the restroom on their own.  We offer regular opportunities for children to go to the restroom, but Asbury Woods staff are not permitted to enter restrooms to assist children.  This is a child privacy policy, to ensure the safety and well-being of children.  Asbury Woods staff remain near the outside of the restrooms to monitor the children, but campers must be able to use the restroom facilities without adult assistance in order to be ready for this program.

Nature Camp and Nature Art Camp

Children must be at least 5 years old by the their first day of camp and entering Kindergarten in the fall to be ready for Nature or Art Camp.  This is a full day program (9 am to 3 pm). Children should be prepared to attend the program independently, under the supervision of Asbury Woods staff. Parents are not permitted to stay for the duration of the program after dropping off their child. Children in this program must be able to use their restroom on their own. We offer regular opportunities for children to go to the restroom, but Asbury Woods staff are not permitted to enter restrooms to assist children. This is a child privacy policy, to ensure the safety and well-being of children. Asbury Woods staff remain near the outside of the restrooms to monitor the children, but campers must be able to use the restroom without adult assistance in order to be ready for this program.

Additionally, children attending Nature and Art Camps are grouped in mixed age groups.  Children entering Kindergarten may be grouped with children who are entering 1st and 2nd grade.
