Part time Groundskeeper / Gardener

Asbury Woods Partnership, Inc. is seeking a groundskeeper working at the Asbury Woods Nature Center. 


Summary of Position:   The Groundskeeper is a part time employee of the Asbury Woods Partnership, Inc. a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.   The Groundskeeper will help maintain grounds and gardens of the Asbury Woods Nature Center property.   The groundskeeper shall perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: push mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, watering, fertilizing, digging and raking.  


SALARY:  $7.25 per hour with no benefits. Security/background investigations required prior to start of employment.  This position will average 25 – 30 hours per week from May – October.   Clearances are required.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Follows detailed worksheet for routine grounds keeping duties.
  • Waters plants, flowers and grass on property.  
  • Mows and trims lawn areas as directed by management staff.
  • Pulls weeds by hand or uses weed trimmer as appropriate.
  • Planting, fertilizing and other gardening jobs as needed.
  • Responsible for sweeping entrance sidewalk.
  • Keeps all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly.
  • Keeps equipment storage area neat, clean and organized.
  • Completes inventory of supplies and informs manager when additional supplies are needed.
  • Keeps the property free of litter, cigarette butts and other trash.
  • Shall perform other duties as needed and directed by management staff.




  1. High School Graduate or GED.
  2. Considerable ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  3. Clearances required – PA Criminal History, Child Abuse History, PPD/TB Test, FBI Fingerprinting  
  4. Grounds keeping and gardening experience is preferred.
  5. Individual must be able to communicate clearly with managers and other personnel.
  6. Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  7. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
