 POSITION Overview:

The Asbury Woods Partnership, Inc., has an immediate opening for a full-time Development Coordinator.  The Development Coordinator manages all activities and administrative duties associated with fundraising and marketing at Asbury Woods Nature Center.  The Development Coordinator reports to the Asbury woods Partnership President, and is responsible for planning, implementing and supervising all activities and projects related to the annual fund raising program, grant writing, membership recruitment, program and event sponsorship, capital improvements funding and planned giving program.  Individually, and in conjunction with the President and members of the Board of Directors, the Development Coordinator regularly meets with individuals, foundations and businesses to successfully solicit donations and sponsorships.

The Mission of Asbury Woods Partnership is to preserve Asbury Woods and provide all members of the community with meaningful environmental, educational and recreational experiences that inspire a greater sense of awareness, sustainability and stewardship. A regional asset located in Erie Pennsylvania, Asbury Woods Nature Center has presented public education programs and events for over 54 years. Over 25,000 people attend programs and over 100,000 visit the Center and trails annually.  In addition to a state-of-the-art Nature Center, Asbury Woods encompasses a historic barn, 205 acres of woods, fields and streams and 4.5 miles of associated trails.

 Asbury Woods Nature Center operates through a public-private partnership between the Asbury Woods Partnership, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and the Millcreek Township School District.  The Partnership manages all community programs and activities at the Nature Center and raises funds for capital improvements and operations.  For more information visit our website at www.asburywoods.org.  


  1. Bachelor’s degree and three to five years in fundraising and development.
  2. Ability to work as a member of a team by sharing decision making while personally assuming and also asking for responsibility and accountability.
  3. Excellent communication (writing, public speaking) and interpersonal skills.
  4. Experience in preparing and submitting grant applications, and ensuring compliance with grant terms and conditions.
  5. Competency in word processing and database software (DonorPerfect a plus.)
  6. Proven communication and organizational skills.
  7. Self starter and a well developed ability to set and meet goals.
  8. Experience working with volunteers.
  9. Strong commitment to organizational mission.


  1. Update and implement Development Plan.
  2. Lead the annual giving program, oversee membership drive and obtain sponsorship for various programs and events.
  3. Manage fundraising events in conjunction with volunteer committees.
  4. Meet with donors, foundations and businesses to solicit donations, sponsorships and grants, including attending community events.
  5. Research and coordinate applications for grants, assist AWP President with implementation and reporting requirements.
  6. Update and implement a planned giving program for Asbury Woods.
  7. Oversee all development publications, activities and events.
  8. Assist with marketing materials associated with programming.
  9. Coordinate development policies, procedures, budgets and development records.
  10. Oversee the daily activities of development relating to record keeping, budget management, donor contacts, pledge reminders, gift acknowledgements, publications, website, public relations, program promotion, membership development and membership events.
  11. Assist the AWP President and the Asbury Woods Partnership Board with other fundraising duties.
  12. Support related strategies and activities which will enhance the public image of Asbury Woods Nature Center.
  13. Meet regularly with the AWP President, Development Committee and Board.

 HOURS: This is a full time administrative and professional, exempt position.  This is a full-time, year round position, which includes some weekend and evenings.

REPORTS TO:  President, Asbury Woods Partnership

 SALARY:  Competitive salary based on experience, plus benefits.  Satisfactory results from a security/background investigation is required prior to start of employment.
